PAYMENTS

Inpatients

  • If you are an inpatient with medical aid coverage, we will handle the authorisation process and submit it on your behalf.

  • If you are a private patient, we will collaborate with you or your family to arrange payment.

Outpatients

  • Usually, payment for outpatient sessions is required upfront and can be made with cash, card, EFT, or Snapscan. You will receive a comprehensive invoice to claim from your medical aid. If you have an out-of-hospital benefit/savings, you will be reimbursed.

  • Our charges are based on medical aid rates, ensuring that as a member, you should not have any co-payments; the medical aid typically covers the full amount (subject to your medical aid plan).

  • What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy focuses on addressing and preventing physical injuries and movement challenges. It aims to restore, maintain, and enhance a patient's mobility, functionality, and overall well-being. Through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and promoting health and fitness, physiotherapy actively supports patients in their recovery process. The terms "physiotherapist" and "physical therapist" are used interchangeably to describe these professionals.
  • Do I need a Doctor's (GP's) referral for physiotherapy?
Physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers, meaning you do not require a doctor's referral for treatment. Nevertheless, if you have a referral letter, scans, or any other relevant information concerning your injury or discomfort, bringing these documents to your initial consultation or assessment would greatly aid us in providing the best care possible. Inpatients: If you are an inpatient, your admitting doctor will recommend physiotherapy with us. During your first visit, we will thoroughly explain our goals and treatment plan, and you will need to fill out a consent form. Treatments are about 30 minutes, depending on your condition. You may be seen twice a day, especially if you have a chest condition or have had an operation. Outpatients: If you are an outpatient, a doctor's referral is not necessary for outpatient physiotherapy. Sessions should be scheduled in advance through our website, email, WhatsApp, or by calling our clinic. A consent form must be filled out during the initial visit. The initial consultation may last an hour or more as we carefully evaluate your needs and explain our procedures. Together, we will establish treatment goals based on your requirements.
  • What do I wear for my physiotherapy session?
All patients are kindly asked to wear loose and comfortable clothing during their sessions, as it may be necessary to uncover specific areas for treatment. Additionally, exercises may be incorporated into the sessions.
  • What should I expect from my first session?
During your initial visit, your physiotherapist will assess your injury or condition and devise a treatment plan for you. This involves the following steps: Inquiring about your current condition and health background. Conducting a physiotherapy examination to evaluate your injury or condition, which may temporarily worsen your pain. Going over the assessment results and proposing a treatment plan. Obtaining your consent for treatment.
  • Will physiotherapy include physical examination?
The physiotherapist conducts a physical assessment, which may necessitate changing or removing clothing to examine the affected area. During the evaluation, the physiotherapist may touch the area of concern to check for tenderness, swelling, or warmth. By using their hands, they assess for weakness, restricted movement, and the level of discomfort present.
  • What if I am not seeing the results through my physiotherapy sessions?
Your physiotherapist is there to support you on your journey to improved health and well-being. By openly communicating any concerns or persistent issues you may be facing, you are enabling them to tailor their approach to best suit your needs. Remember, your active participation and feedback are key components in achieving optimal results. Together, through collaboration and open dialogue, you can work towards enhancing your mobility and functionality to help you lead a more fulfilling and active life. Trust in the process, stay consistent with your exercises, and don't hesitate to reach out whenever you have questions or need guidance. Your commitment and communication are vital in the success of your physiotherapy journey.
  • How many physiotherapy sessions do I need?
Following an initial evaluation that includes reviewing your medical history and conducting a physical examination, our physiotherapists will collaborate with you to develop a personalised treatment plan. This plan may include customised exercises, manual therapy, or other recommended interventions. We maintain regular contact with our patients post-treatment and recovery. Our follow-up appointments typically last between 45 minutes to an hour. We persistently adjust the treatment regimen as needed and update home exercises accordingly. Our primary goal is to enhance patient functionality promptly. We strive to minimise the duration and the number of treatments.
